INDIANAPOLIS — Resultant, a leading consulting firm specializing in technology, data analytics, and digital transformation, announced today that it has promoted Curt Merlau to director of the firm’s nationally recognized education practice. He was formerly a senior consultant.
In his new role, Merlau leads teams of highly sought-after subject-matter experts that design, develop, and deliver solutions across early childcare and education; K-12; and post-secondary education across more than a half dozen states. Merlau also oversees business development for Resultant’s education practice..

Since joining Resultant, Merlau has led or assisted project teams on multiple outcomes oriented education projects for the State of Indiana. He was recently named to TechPoint’s 2022 Tech 25 class, in part, because of this impactful work, along with his positive, people-centric attitude and community involvement with organizations like EDGE Mentoring, ACE Preparatory Academy Charter School Founding Board, and iTOWN Church.
Some of Merlau’s career accomplishments include:
- Supporting multiple states with their Ed-Fi data standard implementation, which improves data collection and utilization, and facilitating the creation of a multiyear roadmap to maximize that implementation. Ultimately, these projects help data flow seamlessly, securely, and real-time between schools and the state—encouraging collaboration to provide holistic, comprehensive understanding of learners’ needs.
- Building a sustainable mixed delivery system to enhance delivery of early care and education (ECE) services in multiple states by documenting data systems, analyzing data gaps, and recommending a platform to promote data sharing across agencies, enabling insight and collaboration to improve performance.
- Providing portfolio management and strategic consulting to Indiana Department of Education to advance the agency’s digital transformation efforts.
Merlau is a fifth-generation Hoosier and a first-generation college student who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Taylor University and a Master’s of Education, Educational Leadership and Administration from Indiana University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt Peabody College. Merlau lives in Fishers, Ind. with his wife and four young children.
