Recognition awarded for workforce recommendation engine Pivot
We’re pleased to announce we’ve been named to Inc. Magazine’s 2025 Best in Business Awards list in the “Social Good” category.
This recognition honors our work with the AI-powered workforce recommendation engine Pivot, developed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
Pivot resides within Indiana’s unemployment portal, providing seamless accessibility for job seekers and delivering measurable wage increases while strengthening the state’s economic competitiveness.
Sophisticated technology deployed with empathy
Resultant joined forces with Indiana DWD to build a solution that truly moved the needle on workforce outcomes and made it as easy as possible for job seekers to access it and realize its benefits.
“When someone files an unemployment claim, it’s stressful. They’re trying to figure out the best way to get reemployed,” said Indiana Economic Development Corporation President Josh Richardson. “That could mean training, new skills, or an occupational change. But it can be hard for those individuals to know what’s the best path forward.”
Pivot brings measurable results to Indiana job seekers
Pivot users who pursued their top recommended job saw wage increases of $3.98 per hour compared to just $1.42 per hour for non-participants, translating to more than $8,000 in annual wage increases. These outcomes contribute to Indiana’s strong economic indicators, including an unemployment rate of 3.6% and labor force participation of 63.7%, both of which outperform national averages.
Using SLDS, workforce, and UI data combined with machine learning, this cutting-edge tool makes personalized career and training recommendations to users based on work history, wages, and education attainment. Adding other information like median wages, job openings in regional areas, job description and demand, and training duration refines recommendations and empowers users to make informed decisions and see trade-offs between their top recommendations.
Pivot is just one example of how machine learning and advanced analytics can be catalysts to help real people build better careers and stronger communities.
