Brave Initiatives is on a mission to empower high school girls to be agents of change in the world through design, coding, and leadership training. To support this, Brave runs five-day BraveCamps across the world that involves young women in the process of developing technology for social impact using Design Thinking tools that culminate with presentations of the campers’ efforts to friends and family.
Motivated by the alignment of Resultant values with the mission and vision of Brave Initiatives, Resultant was honored to bring the first BraveCamp to Indy in 2018 at our corporate headquarters on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. This year, on July 15th – 19th, Resultant will once again host 15 young women from high schools all over Central Indiana, including students from IPS, Brownsburg, and Speedway school districts for a week-long program.
The curriculum begins with Design Thinking training, digs into challenges facing our community, does a deep dive into coding. The campers then spend time developing solutions to community challenges and building websites to share those solutions. This year, Resultant and Brave Initiatives have partnered with InnoPower, an organization built to highlight innovations in minority communities, create opportunities for capacity building, and leverage external financing and networks. The campers will present their solutions at the InnoPower Conference, Saturday, July 20th at 10:00 am, to friends and family and be recognized to the entire conference for their achievements throughout the week.
Hosting BraveCamp Indy wouldn’t be possible without the commitment of the Indianapolis community including great sponsors and speakers.
