Mary Catharine Grau’s deep passion for education took root while she was still in elementary school.
“My mom graduated from college when I was in the fifth grade, and there was a marked difference in our lives from before to after,” she said.
Mary Catharine joined the Resultant team over nine years ago and has served and led teams in several pivotal roles in internal communications and public relations, brand and marketing, culture, and organizational transformation. She’s helped the organization through four acquisitions and two purchases.
Today she enjoys focusing her efforts with the education practice, where her strengths shine in leading teams with different disciplines help all levels of educational clients through organizational transformations. Her executive experience plus time in the trenches growing Resultant from its small beginnings give her the unique ability to see the business from a wide, holistic perspective while at the same time digging into the important details.
Her favorite projects to date have been federal nutrition programs. “Figuring out how to get meals to kids in the summer when they wouldn’t otherwise eat matters,” she said.
Mary Catharine cites visiting the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center as the most interesting thing she’s done for a project recently. Located in Indiana, it is recognized as the Department of Defense’s largest, most realistic urban training facility and includes buildings, ruins, and burned-out cars.
She has invested time as a volunteer in many educational organizations, including serving as a Starfish Scholar, helping high-performing, at-risk teens succeed in college.
Mary Catharine is passionate about understanding people. She’s given purposeful empathy instruction to Resultant interns for the past four years, is part of the Consulting 101 team, and is an onboarding champion. “I want people to always feel welcome and supported,” she said.
