The Problem

American National Bank of Texas (ANBTX) partnered with Resultant to migrate its data warehouse—a delicate operation in a highly regulated industry. As trust grew, so did our work together, eventually encompassing the data visualization, self-service analytics tools, and data governance that would support the bank’s new reporting system and provide quick ROI.

ANBTX brought in Resultant to handle data warehouse migration and Snowflake implementation, which required bringing together numerous disparate systems. Given the complexity of the systems in place to manage the banking system’s 30+ locations and a strict regulatory environment, migration was a heavy lift that required meticulous planning and constant communication with ANBTX’s IT and other teams.

Successes build upon each other, and finding greater efficiency, security, and clarity tends to make an organization hungry for more. Our work with ANBTX started with data warehousing but moved far beyond that.

That project shined a light on critical needs the bank faced:

  • As the banking system had progressed, its data governance demanded more attention.
  • Its primary reporting tool, Impromptu, had reached end of life.

ANBTX next asked us to help mature its data governance practice and find and implement a reporting tool. But that wasn’t the end of our collaboration.

About the client

ANBTX opened its doors in 1875 and today is one of the largest independently owned banks in Texas. ANBTX strives to deliver best-in-class financial solutions and expertise while continuing to focus on the communities it serves by providing authentic, personalized service with the convenience of digital products and services.

Outcomes

  • We put in place the policies and procedures to enhance security and establish data governance that will carry the organization forward as it grows.
  • Their teams are ready and equipped to continue implementing data governance best practices and self-manage data governance.
  • ANBTX gained the ability to function more efficiently than ever through careful implementations and training that aligns with their now as well as the future they strive for.

The Solutions

Successes build upon each other, and finding greater efficiency, security, and clarity tends to make an organization hungry for more. Our work with ANBTX started with data warehousing but moved far beyond that.

  • To ensure we tied all solutions to needs and strategy, our team worked with ANBTX teams in Design Thinking sessions, clarifying where the organization was going and how to help get it there.
  • Our data governance team collaborated with ANBTX to mature their governance practice, ensuring compliance with banking regulations as the organization moved toward its projected growth.
  • ANBTX’s reporting tool was being sunset, and it was a good opportunity for them to find something more sophisticated for generating and visualizing business intelligence, and so we helped them choose and implement Alteryx in conjunction with Tableau.
  • As we worked with them, we realized they were encountering middle-of-the-night failures and so recommended Validatar to monitor job processes and send alerts when failures arose.
  • We helped ANBTX develop a center of excellence to establish and maintain best practices in self-service tools and data governance. One day a week a member of our team is available to ANBTX to address issues, answer questions, and provide leadership.
  • At a point where our recommendations didn’t align with our expertise, we worked closely with ANBTX to partner with another consulting firm to help implement a new solution for the bank.
  • For each project ANBTX added along the way, we trained teams to ensure they were ready to utilize the new solution, and we kept the work on time and under budget.

The Outcome

After close collaboration and assessment, we’ve put in place not just the tools ANBTX needed but the policies and procedures to enhance security and establish data governance that will carry the organization forward as it grows. Their teams are ready and equipped to continue implementing data governance best practices and self-manage data governance.

Part of getting there was camping out at the main office for long, intense days, the objective of which was to establish a way forward that ANBTX can rely on and build from. They’re now in a position to function more efficiently than ever through careful implementations and training that aligns with their now as well as the future they strive for.

Resultant has been a great friend and partner to ANBTX for the past several years across a wide array of services and solutions including Design Thinking, digital transformation, data visualization, data migration, and data governance. As our organization has grown rapidly, Resultant has prepared and positioned us to handle the additional rigors of the increased regulation we are facing. We deeply appreciate Resultant’s partnership and consider them a trusted advisor in its truest sense of the word.
